Everyone is treated as professionals in our schools projects with the expectation that we create extraordinary work whilst having lots of fun. Our programme complements the operas of the 2016 season including opportunities to attend a covers performance of Eugene Onegin on 4 July, and a rehearsal of The Creation on 13 July at our inspirational Opera Pavilion.
Our work with primary schools this year focuses on facilitating the youngest generations to discover the world of opera. Working with seven primaries we shall be exploring Haydn's Creation over nine days leading to a sharing between 180 children.
Short residencies in secondary schools with a professional team of a director, composer and designer using themes from a focus opera. We work with up to 50 students of mixed ages to develop a company to create their own opera.
During 2015/16 we have two residencies planned; one focusing on Eugene Onegin, the other on The Creation, working in collaboration with Rambert. In addition we will be working with Music Hubs in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire reaching out to nine schools with short residencies, and bringing 500 young people to see a production of Eugene Onegin.
