Applications Open: Alvarez Young Artists' Programme 2025

Applications are open for singers for Garsington Opera’s 2025 Alvarez Young Artists’ Programme. All applicants must be fully available for the period 1 April to 22 July 2025. 2025 will be based wholly at our new rehearsal Studios on site at Wormsley estate in Buckinghamshire. In all cases you must be available if required for weekends, evenings and bank holidays. Please note that covers will be required before these dates.

2025 Season:

Donizetti, L’elisir d’amore in Italian (Conductor: Chloe Rooke, Director: Christopher Luscombe, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Tchaikovsky, The Queen of Spades in Russian (Conductor: Douglas Boyd, Director: Jack Furness, Philharmonia Orchestra)

Handel, Rodelinda in Italian (Conductor: Peter Whelan, Director: Ruth Knight, The English Concert)

Beethoven, Fidelio in German (Conductor: Gérard Korsten, Director: John Cox, Revival Director: Jamie Manton, The English Concert)

The main OperaFirst show next year will be L’elisir d’amore, where covers will perform a full show with the Philharmonia Orchestra for a schools’ audience. We also hope to do a reduced Rodelinda for a primary school audience with The English Concert.

Please note we cannot accept applications from those on a student visa. However, we are now able to consider those who would be entering the UK on a visitor visa.

Auditions will be held in Autumn 2024 until all chorus slots are filled. Audition dates are not 100% confirmed, but are likely to be held on:

16, 17, 18 September
2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 14, 15, 16, 17 October

We will also be holding auditions in Cape Town, South Africa in mid-October. Dates will be confirmed in due course.

Please apply early – we will not wait till the application deadline to start allocating auditions, so the earlier you apply the more likely you are to get a chance to sing to us!
