Opening the 2027 Festival on Wednesday 26 May, Garsington Opera will stage its first Wagner opera, with a new production of Der fliegende Holländer (The Flying Dutchman) directed by Rachael Hewer and conducted by our Artistic Director Douglas Boyd. We invite you to join us for this landmark moment in Garsington’s history and to pledge your support to help us stage this ambitious project.
Der fliegende Holländer showcases all that Garsington is known for; world-class soloists coming together with the next generation of emerging artists, who will form our largest Festival chorus to-date, and the world-renowned Philharmonia Orchestra in the magical surroundings of the Opera Pavilion at Wormsley.
In celebration of this milestone, we are creating a special Wagner Circle for those who wish to support the production with suggested donations from £2,000. Members of the Wagner Circle can enjoy a close association with the production, with updates as it takes shape, and unique insights from the team behind Der fliegende Holländer.
For those interested in an even deeper involvement, we have launched our Dutchman Syndicate. From a suggested donation of £15,000, members of the syndicate will have the opportunity to support specific roles in the production and will be invited to see the impact of their support first-hand during the rehearsal process.
