Schools
For many young people the very first introduction to the arts, and specifically opera, is likely to be through their school. The inspirational work of our GO Participate team is vital. Each year we take highly skilled, dynamic practitioners and opera singers into 20 local primary and secondary schools across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, engaging children with the stories and music of opera, resulting in more attentive students in the classroom and increased self-confidence, and, who knows, a love of opera?

OperaFirst
Our OperaFirst projects are open to primary and secondary schools and aim to introduce the world of opera through an in-school workshop followed by a performance at Garsington Opera performed by our Emerging Artists.

Create-an-Opera
This intensive programme for secondary schools involves immersive workshops at Garsington Studios in school time. Students collaborate with professionals to create and devise their own opera. The experience culminates several schools coming together to share their collective creations.

Digital Learning Resources
These resources are designed to engage people with opera in an inspiring and accessible way in their own homes or classrooms. Based on specific operas and linked to the National Curriculum, these resources offer both insights and practical exercises.

Higher Education Placements
As part of their specialist higher education course, we welcome two students as part of their industry placement module to support their studies. One placed within the lighting department, and one supports the rehearsal process as part of the stage management team.
