Un giorno di regno: Change of conductor

Regrettably, due to injury, Tobias Ringborg will no longer conduct our production of Verdi’s Un giorno di regno which opens at the end of June. Chris Hopkins will now conduct this production, with the Philharmonia Orchestra.

We thank Tobias for his work on this opera and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Chris Hopkins, conductor

Equally at home on the concert stage or in the orchestra pit, Chris is a regular at English National Opera, this season conducting performances of Iolanthe. He has conducted more than 60 shows at the London Coliseum, including the company’s first production of The Yeomen of the Guard and a new production of HMS Pinafore, as well as La bohème, The Magic Flute, The Mikado, and others. He recently made his debuts with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and at Grange Park Opera with a new production of Werther.

He is principal conductor of English Sinfonia and has worked with Opéra de Paris, the Royal Opera House and Glyndebourne, on recordings with the English Chamber Orchestra, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, London Mozart Players, and has appeared at festivals all over the world. His work has been broadcast on BBC One, Two, and Four, BBC Radio 2, 3, and 4 and Classic FM.
