
Production Arts
Garsington Opera offers a comprehensive training pathway designed to nurture and develop the next generation of professionals in Production Arts. We have opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing careers in Stage Management, Lighting Design, Scenic Design and Costume Design. We offer a range opportunities from placements for those starting their careers, to paid seasonal and project-based roles for more experienced professionals.
Discovery Workshops
Our workshops will give you the opportunity to explore different areas of opera and theatre in a series of one-day workshops. With everything from singing to set design, it’s a great way to explore your own creativity working with professionals from the industry.


Work Experience
Each year, we offer a week of intensive work experience for a limited number of young people between the ages of 16 and 18. It’s a great chance to find out how a producing theatre works and to highlight the many career opportunities in producing and making opera productions.

Traineeships
This opportunity is for those who are keen to explore a career in backstage roles but have not completed a formal higher education route. Offering paid, introductory vocational training and career development opportunities in the lighting and stage departments. These individuals will receive ‘on the job’ training, preparing and contributing to full production processes including working on performances, as well as receiving mentoring to help prepare for employability and working in theatre and event industries.

Career Opportunities
The Garsington Opera Festival produces performances typically from the end of May until the end of July. To facilitate the running of the festival, we employ a number of seasonal staff every year in a number of varied positions. Find out more about the roles we recruit for each year.

Higher Education Opportunities
As part of their specialist higher education course, we welcome two students as part of their industry placement module to support their studies. One placed within the lighting department, and one supports the rehearsal process as part of the stage management team.
